I found this article by Productivity501 especially interesting. They interviewed a number of people to find out what they felt was their most important productivity tool. You can read the whole article here — Interview: Productivity Tool : Productivity501

The answers were not quite what I expected. I thought I’d see some of the latest and greatest gizmos or programs of the day — maybe things like the iPhone, or Google Wave, or even some clever new thing I’d never yet heard of.

But, as it turns out, a good number of people consider their most important productivity tool … (drumroll please) … the pen and paper! This is certainly in line with my own experience. I love my trusty old PDA. And my cute smartphone goes with me everywhere. But, when it comes right down to it, when I want to make a quick note I pull out my little spiral notebook and retractible ballpoint pen.

New ideas, advanced technology … these things have a lot to offer us. They should be embraced, explored and mastered. But the old tried and true should never be dumped just because it’s old! Maybe I’m not so old-fashioned as I thought.
